World Book Day 2021

As you may be aware, it is World Book Day this week, on the 4th March. Unfortunately, we will not have all of the children back by then, so instead, we are having a virtual World Book Day. Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting activities throughout the week including a ‘Masked Reader’ challenge, in which the children have to identify our mystery readers, whose voices have been disguised.

We know how important reading has been through lockdown and want to celebrate this with a competition. We are going to ask the children to create a ‘story corner’ or ‘den’ in their house. These can be decorated to reflect the children’s favourite books or can just be a cosy place to snuggle up with a good book. There will be book vouchers, redeemable at Barnett’s Bookshop, for one winner in each year group.

The Masked Reader

A few of the members of staff at school have recorded clips of them reading their favourite children's book. Unfortunately, their voices have been disguised! Can you identify the adult behind the recording? New recordings will be posted every day. The identity of each reader will be revealed at the end of each day.

Story Corner Contest Winners

A huge well done to every single child who entered our story corner contest! We were blown away with your creativity and loved seeing you all reading at home.

It was a very difficult decision to make but our overall winner for this competition was Amelie in Year 4, who will be receiving a £15 book voucher to Barnett's Bookshop in Wadhurst. Have a look at the amazingly inventive story corner she made with her sister:

We then chose a winner from each year group. The winners from each year group will receive a £5 voucher for Barnett's Bookshop in Wadhurst. The winners were:
Nursery - Talia B

Reception - Rafferty

Year 1 - Edie R

Year 2 - Laurence B

Year 3 - Madeline B
